Entry: pahiyas 2006. Tuesday, May 23, 2006

It was our first time to visit pahiyas, a yearly festival in Lucban, Quezon. Good thing the rain subsided :) i was amazed by how much effort the people of Lucban put into decorating their houses. Some households were even rumored to spending atleast half a million pesos. Shocking.

Some jokes never grow old. di ba, erap? :)

While others were celebrating, some were struggling to get by. Weird. People were ready to spend thousands on lavish decorations while they turn a cold shoulder to their starving brothers and sisters.

good pictures! but i did not like the way you mention that lucbanin spent lots of money for decoration and turn their shoulder to starving people. first thing, i was born & grew up in lucban we work to support our family & sometimes our neighbors too. the starving people that you mentioned, come from other town or province drop-off by somebody to beg for money or to make money.

pahiyas festival is a part of our life its our tradition. only once a year, just enjoy it and don't put politics bull-shit!

e-mail me back if you have any question.
